Refrigerator Repairman in
Palm Coast, FL

General Appliance Service uses flat-rate appliance repair pricing rather than charging by the technician's hourly time.

Our repair pricing is based on the Original Appliance Blue Book, which provides standardized national flat-rate labor averages for appliance repairs. Once we diagnose the appliance and determine the repair required, we use the applicable flat-rate repair pricing rather than increasing the labor charge simply because a repair takes a technician longer to complete.

The total repair price can vary depending on the appliance, brand, model, failed component and replacement parts required. After diagnosing the problem, we provide the repair price before you authorize the work, so you can make an informed decision.

Often, yes—but it depends on the appliance and what has failed.

Before replacing an appliance, consider its age, overall condition, repair history, repair cost, expected remaining life, parts availability and the cost of a comparable replacement.

A relatively young appliance with one repairable component failure can be an excellent candidate for repair. An older appliance experiencing repeated failures or requiring an expensive major repair may be a stronger candidate for replacement.

An accurate diagnosis gives you the information needed to compare the actual repair cost against the cost and benefits of replacement.

The 50/50 rule for appliance repair is a general guideline homeowners can use when deciding whether to repair or replace an appliance.

Ask two questions:

1. Has the appliance already used more than approximately 50% of its expected useful life?
2. Will the repair cost more than approximately 50% of the cost of a comparable replacement appliance?

If the answer to both questions is yes, replacing the appliance may deserve serious consideration.

If the appliance is relatively young or the repair costs substantially less than replacing it, repairing the appliance may make better financial sense.

The 50/50 rule is a guideline, not an absolute rule. The appliance's overall condition, previous repairs, replacement quality, installation costs, parts availability and the particular component that failed should also be considered.
